Versatile Grasses:
Ornamental grasses are highly versatile. They blend into both formal and informal settings. Taller-growing grasses not only provide a graceful garden background, but their billowing plumes bring a sense of action to otherwise static settings. They are excellent to define property edges and add special interest when planted along ponds and streams. Because they have a totally different character, they blend well with nearly all types of perennials, shrubs and hedges.

In contrast, the term agriculture, by derivation, referred to more open forms of culture such as the production of grains and grasses, known as agronomic crops, which are cultivated on a large scale.
