Chances are, if you inherited any kind of garden, you inherited bearded irises. And even if you didn’t, these bearded beauties are so easy to grow and so delightful to enjoy, you’ve probably got a handful in your landscape.

After 4-5 years, a handful of irises can get quite entangled and crowded. A sure sign that division is needed is if the plants aren’t flowering as much as they used to.

No problem! All you need is a sharp garden knife and a spading fork or shovel. Within minutes you can divide the clump and give your bearded irises a new lease on life.
